Exhibiting high levels of vigilance along the international border, troops from the 04 Bn Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya seized clothing items worth approximately INR 11 lakhs that were being smuggled across the border into Bangladesh.
In another incident, troops from the 43 Bn BSF and the Meghalaya police conducted a joint operation in the South Garo hills border region and apprehended a Bangladeshi national who had illegally entered India with the intention of smuggling goods back to Bangladesh.
The apprehended individual, identified as Md Asherul Hoque (20) from Bhawanipur, Netrakona, was found to be in possession of blankets, cosmetics items, liquor, and other miscellaneous items.
Throughout December 2022, the BSF in Meghalaya has successfully seized smuggled clothing and cosmetics items worth a total of INR 99 lakhs as part of its ongoing efforts to prevent smuggling along the international border.
