On Monday, the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) welcomed the participants of the ‘Women on Wheels (WoW)’ drive.
The drive, organized by the Amazing Namaste Foundation as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), aims to give women the chance to discover the beauty of Northeast. The program will see the participating women covering a total distance of 40,000 kilometers in Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh. This initiative is supported by the National Commission for Women and the state women’s commissions of the respective states.
APSCW Chairperson Kenjum Pakam greeted the participants upon their arrival in Arunachal Pradesh, stating that the WoW drive is a chance for them to explore and appreciate the people and places of the Northeast. She also added that the drive will provide an opportunity for the women to get to know the region more closely, build strong relationships, and bridge any gaps that exist.
Additionally, the chairperson highlighted that the AKAM is a celebration of the accomplishments of Northeast women in various fields such as sports, creativity, entrepreneurship, and socioeconomic development. The interaction program was attended by several women from the state, including political leaders, entrepreneurs, and social workers. The WoW team is set to visit Pakke-Kessang district next.
