Terming the recent violence in Manipur as unfortunate, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that he will soon embark on a three day visit to Manipur and will talk to all factions of people in the troubled state.
The Home Minister said this in Guwahati on Thursday while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of the National Forensic Science University in Assam and appealed to the people of Manipur to have faith in the government.

“The recent violence in Manipur took place due to a court order. It is not justified. The central government is committed for development of all the people,” he said adding that the perpetrators of violence will be dealt with very sternly. “I am going to Manipur on a three day visit and will talk to all factions of people. I appeal to all factions of people to maintain calm and restrain violence. For last six years Manipur has been very peaceful and there has been no bandh and blockades in Manipur since last six years. I appeal to all the people for restraints so that normalcy could be restored in the state,” Shah said.

“People from both the communities have to decide first to maintain peace. I on behalf of the central government want to assure everyone that justice will be done with everyone,” he said while sending a strong warning against the perpetrators of violence.

He said that the Central government will establish the National Forensic Science University in Assam at an estimated cost of Rs. 500 crore. The University will have capacity of about 3000 students in different graduate and post graduate courses.

He also said that the central government is planning to amend the IPC, CRPC and Evidence Act to make it more effective which will lead to more conviction rate. Shah also said that the government has been focusing more on the forensics and forensics investigation will be made compulsory for crimes having imprisonment of more than 6 years as punishment.

The Home Minister further said that the NFSU will also open up more job opportunities for the youths of the state as the central government is planning to make the forensic investigation mandatory in certain crimes where imprisonment is more than six years.
