India and Bangladesh have scheduled biannual talks between their respective border guarding forces, set to commence from June 11. The discussions aim to address a wide range of concerns pertaining to the combatting of cross-frontier crimes and the implementation of measures to enhance synergy and collaboration.
On Saturday, a delegation of 15 members from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), led by Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan, the Director General (DG) of BGB, arrived in Delhi. Welcoming them at the airport were Sujoy Lal Thaosen, the Director General (DG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), along with other senior officers of the force, as confirmed by officials.
The four-day talks will conclude on June 14 at a BSF camp in southwest Delhi’s Chhawla area.
“The objective of the conference is to address border-related concerns and enhance coordination between the border guarding forces of both countries,” stated a BSF spokesperson. The spokesperson further added that the discussions will focus on collaborative efforts to combat various trans-border crimes and ensure timely information sharing between the two forces.
Additionally, the conference will involve deliberations on developmental and infrastructural projects, as well as joint initiatives for the effective implementation of the Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) and Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), as mentioned by the spokesperson.
