A mob allegedly tried to loot weapons from a camp of the Indian Reserved Battalion (IRB) located in Khangabok, Thoubal district of Manipur on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old individual and an injury to an Assam Rifles jawan, according to sources.
“An attempt to loot weapons from an India Reserve Battalion at Khangabok in Thoubal district of #Manipur was successfully thwarted by Security Forces today. One rioter was killed while few others were injured during the failed attempt,” the Indian Army tweeted on Tuesday.
To impede reinforcements, the mob erected roadblocks at various locations leading to the camp. However, the forces managed to navigate through the blockades, sources stated. Additionally, ten others sustained injuries during the clashes. The situation was effectively brought under control through the efforts of the Security Forces, as additional columns of Assam Rifles and Rapid Action Force were deployed, according to the Army.
