Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Self Sustainable Energy Buildings (SSEB) and announced the deployment of drones for the supply of essential commodities at Border Observation Posts (BOPs) in a virtual address to mark the 62nd Raising Day ceremony of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Dehradun, on Friday. Shah also paid homage to the 147 martyrs of the ITBP through the launch of a commemorative flip book.

Shah, during his address, highlighted the commitment of the Modi government to bolstering border security. He pointed to increased expenditures for the construction of roads and BOPs, ensuring facilities for jawans deployed in challenging terrains. The home minister announced the innovative use of drones for delivering vegetables, medicines, and other essential items to remote BOPs, addressing security gaps in difficult terrains.

Expressing gratitude to the soldiers, Shah acknowledged the crucial role played by the ITBP in safeguarding the country’s borders. He commended the force for its achievements, including 7 Padma awards, 2 Kirti Chakras, and 6 Shaurya Chakras.

Shah shared the government’s commitment to developing border villages into vibrant centers with necessary facilities. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and local communities for holistic development.

Speaking about the broader vision of the Modi government, Shah stated its aim to make India a global leader in every field by 2047. The event was attended by Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Director General of ITBP.
