The Chinese Ministry of National Defense affirmed that the current border situation between China and India remains generally stable, highlighting ongoing diplomatic and military channels for dialogue, on Thursday. Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for the ministry, made these remarks during a press briefing. This statement comes in response to India’s recent assertion that the latest round of talks between the two countries’ Corps Commanders yielded no progress.
Colonel Zhang expressed hope for mutual trust enhancement and effective resolution of differences to uphold peace along the border regions. The meeting took place at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point, where India reiterated its stance on complete disengagement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh for peace restoration.
According to reports, India strongly advocated for addressing persistent issues at the Depsang and Demchok points, yet tangible progress remains elusive. The talks, held in a friendly atmosphere, focused on the imperative of disengagement along the LAC as a prerequisite for peace reinstatement.
In response, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) affirmed that both sides shared their viewpoints cordially during the discussions. They pledged to sustain communication through relevant military and diplomatic channels while ensuring peace and tranquility along the border areas in the interim.
