Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has strongly criticised China for its recent move to rename places within his state, reaffirming that Arunachal Pradesh is an “inalienable integral part of India.”
In response to China’s release of a list of 30 places in Arunachal Pradesh, Khandu denounced the action as another “gimmick,” expressing pride as a citizen of India and native of Arunachal Pradesh. He emphasised the rejection of such attempts by the proud citizens and patriots of the state.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs echoed Khandu’s sentiments, firmly rejecting China’s renaming efforts. The ministry spokesperson emphasized that assigning invented names would not change the reality that Arunachal Pradesh remains an integral and inalienable part of India.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also addressed China’s claims, asserting that changing names would not alter the status of Arunachal Pradesh as an Indian state. He compared the situation to changing the name of a house, emphasizing that Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always be a part of India.
Despite China’s persistent claims, India remains steadfast in rejecting such assertions, reaffirming Arunachal Pradesh’s status as an integral part of the country.
